How to use:

- Verify the humidity level of your flower is at least 60% stable in your jar before committing to the next step.
Carefully break down your flower into smaller pieces, approximately 0.25-0.5 grams.
Tip: Using nitrile gloves will help keep your essential oils off of your hands when handling flowers.
- Place the base of the mold on top of the working table.
- Line the base of the mold with a small sheet of parchment to prevent essential oils from sticking to the base.
- Place the cylinder sleeve over the base of the mold.
- Fill the mold with flower pieces until you have your desired amount loaded.
Tip: It is recommended to not use more than the high amounts suggested.
- Place the plunger inside the cylinder sleeve and compress it onto the working table using the palm of your hand.
- Remove the mold from the base and turn it upside down to see the base of your compressed puck.
- Prepare your filter by opening it with the included plastic sheet.
- Eject the puck by pressing down the plunger while holding the cylinder sleeve.
- Quickly load the compressed puck into the open filter.
- Fold the bottom corners of the filter inward using a blunt dab tool.
- Cut the filter about 1” above the top of the loaded compressed puck.
- Fold the tops of the filter to seal it up like a closed box.
- The puck is now ready to be pressed using your heat press machine.

Important Notices!

- If more than hand pressure is needed to compress the mold, we recommend a hand clamp vise to assist you.
- Loading more than the high amounts suggested may result in blowouts of filters or inability to fit in between the heated platens.

Questions & Answers:

Question: What is the recommended minimum amounts loaded?
Answer: For the 30mm molds, 3.5g, for the 40mm mold, 7g.

Question: Can I compress the pucks using my arbor press?
Answer: Yes, though be careful not to apply too much pressure onto the aluminum surface directly.

Question: What Humidity level should my flower be stored in?
Answer: 62% is the recommended stable relative humidity (RH) inside of your flower container

Question: How to measure the humidity in my flower container?
Answer: A small hygrometer will give you the humidity levels inside of the container.

Question: Can I re-press my pucks?
Answer: Yes!  Simply fold the puck in half and re-press it.  You might have to use a higher temperature to get an extraction.

Question: Do I need to use filter bags for flowers?
Answer: No, you can press single flowers and get great results, you can also use the pre-press molds to form pucks to press without the use of filters.  Keep in mind when not using filters that the puck will expand a bit larger.

Question: Can I use a hammer or mallet to compress the pucks?
Answer: Yes!  Please use a rubber mallet to prevent scratching your plunger.

Question: What are the plastic sheets included used for?
Answer: They can be cut or folded to help you open the filters for loading your material more quickly.

Troubleshooting:

1 - How to avoid the filter bags from blowing out?

- Remove excess stems from flowers.
- Use less material in your filter bag.
- Preheating your material first to get it melty before you begin to apply pressure.
- Apply the pressure more slowly.

2 - How to apply the pressure for optimal yield and quality?

- The flower is the easiest material to extract. Slowly compress the puck until the oil begins to flow. As the extraction is flowing, it is important to keep some weight of the downward force on the jack handle to maintain the level of pressure in which the oil is released. By applying too much pressure we may experience blowouts, or even introduce plant matter into our essential oils. Once the puck is mostly extracted you should no longer feel any more release of pressure on the jack handle.
- Sift and fine material will take some practice, so we advise preheating your puck between closed platens. They need to only touch the top and bottom of the puck for preheating. No pressure is required. Allow the puck to preheat for 20-30 seconds. At this time the puck should be melty and more likely to flow out instead of building up pressure inside which may cause a blowout. Gently apply pressure onto the puck and give it time to release the oil, slowly applying the pressure throughout the entire extraction.

3 - The yields are not very good.

- If pressing Flower, verify your sealed storage jar’s humidity level is between 60-65%
- Try a different variety.
- Sifting or hashing it first will allow you to press out a product with acceptable yields.
Pressing using the “bottle tech” method (squeezing cylinder vertical puck) can improve your yield.
